Franchise FAQ - Cardinal Air Duct Cleaning

Every visit starts with

Whole-system duct and dryer vent check with before-and-after photos - you see exactly what came out of your vents

Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Common Questions

Do I need air duct cleaning experience to open a Cardinal franchise?

No. We’ll train you on every piece of equipment, from the Rotobrush rotary brush systems to the Nikro HEPA-rated vacuum extraction units and Abatement Technologies containment setups. What you do need is comfort running a small team, talking to homeowners without a script, and following a process. The Relay Standard is a process, and it’s teachable.

How much does it cost to open a Cardinal Air Duct Cleaning location?

Total investment ranges from $85,000 to $150,000 depending on your market, vehicle and equipment configuration, and buildout. That includes your franchise fee, the professional-grade equipment fleet, initial inventory of Aprilaire, Honeywell, and Guardsman filtration products, and working capital for your first months of operation. We’ll give you an itemized breakdown before you commit to anything.

Is financing available?

Most franchisees combine their own capital with SBA-backed loans or equipment financing. Cardinal is a registered franchise, which helps when you sit down with a lender. We’ll point you to financing partners who understand home service franchises, but we won’t make promises about what any bank will approve.

Do I get an exclusive territory?

Yes. Each Cardinal location operates in a defined territory so you’re not competing with another Cardinal van three blocks over. Territory size depends on population density and the number of homes in your area. We’ll map it out together before you sign anything.

How long is training and what does it cover?

Training runs three weeks: two weeks in the field at an operating Cardinal location plus one week of classroom work on pricing, booking software, and the Relay Standard. You’ll learn to run every piece of equipment, price jobs with a written estimate before any work starts, and read a duct system the way Omar Haddad, our Owner and Lead Technician, teaches it. You’ll also learn how to document every job with before-and-after photos and send a trackable arrival link.

What ongoing fees and royalties does Cardinal charge?

There’s a monthly royalty based on a percentage of gross sales, plus a marketing contribution that funds brand-level lead generation. Numbers get spelled out in the Franchise Disclosure Document, and we’ll walk you through the FDD line by line. No mystery charges, no surprise add-ons. You’ll know every fee before you sign, just like our customers know their price before a single duct is touched.

How long does it take to open from signing to first paid job?

Sixty to ninety days is realistic. That covers territory mapping, equipment delivery, training, licensing in your state, and getting your booking calendar live. Some franchisees get their first job within two months because the national brand name already has search presence, but we’d rather you plan for three.

What support do franchisees get after opening?

You get a live support line answered by a real person, not a voicemail loop, 24/7. You get ongoing help with marketing, local SEO, and hiring. You also get access to preferred pricing on Rotobrush, Nikro, and Abatement Technologies equipment and the filtration product lines. Every Cardinal location is independently owned and operated, but nobody runs alone.

What kind of person is the ideal Cardinal franchisee?

Someone who believes showing up on time, putting a price in writing before work starts, and sending photos of the work is not a customer service extra. It’s the baseline. You’re phone-first, you know the Relay Standard by heart, and you’re comfortable working in crawl spaces and attics. If the idea of handing a homeowner a written price before touching a vent makes you nervous, this isn’t your business.

What’s the next step to becoming a Cardinal franchisee?

Call (737) 727-2314 and ask for the franchise team. We’ll have a conversation, answer your questions, and send you the FDD if it feels like a fit. There’s no pressure to buy. There never is.

Still Have Questions?

We’d rather talk it through than leave you guessing. Call (737) 727-2314 and a live person will pick up, day or night, or submit the form below and we’ll call you. That’s the Relay Standard.
