Whole-system duct and dryer vent check with before-and-after photos - you see exactly what came out of your vents
That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.
Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your Rotobrush duct sealing system is leaking, cracked, or failing at the connection points, we stock and install Rotobrush-compatible sealing and repair components across Los Angeles, with most jobs priced between $220 and $480 installed depending on the model and how many seal points need work. We carry the full spread of Rotobrush brush seals, gaskets, and housing repair kits on our trucks, which means we can typically handle the fix on the first visit.
Most owners notice something’s off when the machine starts leaving debris behind, the vacuum pressure drops mid-job, or the brush head wobbles against the duct wall. That wobble is usually a worn seal letting air bypass the brush assembly, and the fix is straightforward once you know which seal your model takes.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
The sealing and repair parts we handle cover the Rotobrush aiR+ series, the older Rotobrush 2100 and 1500 portable units, and the truck-mount RotoStorm models still running in Los Angeles fleets. The key identification point is not the model number on the housing, it is the brush shaft diameter. The aiR+ runs a narrower 1.5-inch shaft seal than the older 2100, which uses a 2-inch collar. Mixing those up is the single most common compatibility mistake we see when someone orders the part online and tries to make it fit.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question, we will be straight with you: OEM Rotobrush seals are pricier and often backordered by two to three weeks. Quality aftermarket seals made from the same EPDM foam rubber compound hold up just as well in California’s dry heat, and we stock both. If your unit is under warranty, we will always recommend OEM so you do not void coverage. If it is a 2018 or older workhorse with 1,000-plus hours on it, the aftermarket seal saves you real money with no practical downside.
One more compatibility note: Cardinal Air Duct Cleaning is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Rotobrush. We work on their equipment daily because it is what we run in our own fleet, not because we are a factory-authorized shop.
Signs Your Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing
- Debris left behind in the duct after a cleaning pass. This is the seal around the brush head letting dirt slip past instead of getting pulled into the vacuum stream. In Los Angeles homes with older galvanized ductwork, that debris is often decades of fine dust and pet hair.
- A drop in vacuum suction during operation. You will hear the pitch change first, then notice the containment bag filling slower. That means air is entering the system somewhere it should not, usually at the housing gasket or the connection seal between the brush shaft and the drive motor.
- Visible cracks or separation at the housing seams. The plastic housings on portable Rotobrush units get brittle after years of riding around in hot van interiors. A Los Angeles summer inside a work van can push past 130 degrees, and plastic expands and contracts enough to eventually crack at the mounting points.
- Brush head wobble or vibration that was not there before. A worn shaft bearing or degraded seal allows lateral movement, which chews up the seal faster and can score the inside of the duct if left too long.
- Foam or rubber fragments showing up in the collection bag. That is the seal literally disintegrating. Once you see chunks, the seal is done and every job you run is leaving foam particles inside someone’s ducts, which is the last thing a duct cleaning company wants.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For a Los Angeles-area Rotobrush sealing and repair job, here is what you can expect to pay, installed:
- Single seal replacement (brush head seal or shaft seal): $95 to $140
- Housing gasket plus seal refresh: $150 to $210
- Full sealing kit with bearing inspection and replacement if needed: $280 to $420
- Complete seal and gasket overhaul with housing crack repair: $380 to $480
What drives the range is whether your unit needs just a seal swap or whether the housing itself has hairline cracks that need epoxy reinforcement. Every quote includes the parts, the labor, and the test run after the repair to confirm vacuum pressure holds. You get a written price before we touch the machine, and the repair is covered by our written guarantee, backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the seal fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a couple of things you can safely check yourself before calling. First, look at the seal surface: if you can see visible tearing, flattening, or gaps between the seal and the housing, the issue is confirmed and you know what you need. Second, check that the brush shaft spins freely by hand when the unit is unplugged and the shaft is disengaged from the motor coupler.
But here is where DIY goes sideways: removing the old seal usually requires disassembling the brush head assembly, and on the aiR+ that assembly is under spring tension from the shaft detent. If you have never done it, you can damage the shaft threads or, worse, launch a spring-loaded collar across the room. On the truck-mount RotoStorm units, the drive coupler connects to a high-torque motor and improper reassembly can cause a catastrophic coupler failure at full RPM. This is not a job we recommend learning on your own machine. Call us at (737) 727-2314 and we will have it diagnosed and sealed properly, usually the same day we show up.
FAQs
A Rotobrush brush head seal typically lasts 600 to 900 hours of runtime under normal use, which for most Los Angeles duct cleaning companies translates to roughly two to three years. Heat is the biggest killer. Units stored in vans without temperature-controlled garages see seals harden and crack faster, sometimes in as little as 18 months.
No. Once the EPDM or neoprene material has torn, cracked, or compressed past its recovery point, the air bypass cannot be fixed with adhesive or sealant. The material has to come out and a new seal goes in. Attempting a patch just leaves gaps that leak vacuum pressure and contaminate the duct with adhesive fumes.
Most single-seal replacements take under an hour once we are at your location. A full sealing kit with bearing inspection runs about 90 minutes to two hours. We bring the common seal sizes and housing kits on the truck, so the majority of Los Angeles call-outs are completed in a single visit without a return trip for parts.
We stock brush head seals, shaft seals, housing gaskets, and bearing kits for the aiR+, 2100, 1500, and RotoStorm series on our trucks. For less common items like full replacement brush assemblies or specialized drive couplers, we source OEM or quality aftermarket equivalents and can typically have them in hand within three to five business days. We also stock sealing and repair parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier ancillary equipment, though Rotobrush is our bread and butter.
If your Rotobrush is losing pressure, leaving debris, or wobbling, call Cardinal Air Duct Cleaning at (737) 727-2314 for a free estimate. We will tell you exactly what is wrong, exactly what it costs to fix, and we will hand you a written price before any work starts. Omar Haddad and the crew run these machines every day across Los Angeles, and we would rather fix yours right the first time than watch you nurse it through another job.
